About Us
Operating within the Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services, Pacific Divers Scuba Club is a Personnel Support Program based in Comox BC which consists of paid: Regular Force members, DND employees, associates and some civilians.
We are an active dive club currently at 50 plus members. Our members offer extensive experience and camaraderie in all our dives. There are many members that dive every weekend, all year long, just stop by the club on Thursdays to get the latest plans. We also organize club dives including some charters. PDSC also enjoys a close relationship with a number of local dive shops like Pacific Pro Dive and Sink or Swim Scuba.
As a Scuba Club we are very fortunate to have such wonderful and diverse dive sites. The cold, clean waters of the Strait of Georgia, between Vancouver Island and the mainland of British Columbia, provide the greatest diversity of Marine life in North America. When Jacques Cousteau proclaimed that the spectacular coastal waters of British Columbia, Vancouver Island is 'the best temperate water diving in the world and second only to the Red Sea', you know you'll be diving one of the world's top dive destinations right here in our own backyard it doesn’t get any better. Vancouver Island BC has consistently been ranked as 'the' best place to dive in North America and offers spectacular diving and excellent value.
Sport Diver Magazine author, Ty Sawyer commends Nanaimo as "...one of the most hardcore and enthusiastic dive communities in the world!" Marilyn Griffiths of Scuba Press writes ... " Wolf eels, giant Pacific octopus, anemones, nudibranchs and sponges, harbour seals and Stellar sea lions are just part of a regular dive day on the Island add to the wildlife experience by choosing to explore one of the many famed artificial reefs that are being colonized by marine life such as the HMCS Saskatchewan which is British Columbia's most successful artificial reef. The popularity of the Saskatchewan is apparent when you consider that well over 100,000 dives have been completed since she was sunk on June 14, 1997: more than all other B.C. artificial reefs put together! You will find HMCS Cape Breton HMCS Columbia and many more and even a Boeing 737 Jet Plane.
If it's breath-taking marine life you want to encounter then scuba diving Vancouver Island is the place to come to! How about Giant Pacific Octopus and magnificent Six-Gill Sharks. Or frolic with resident Wolf Eels and hundreds of playful sea lions. Drift through stunning gardens of colorful Kelp, Anemones and Sponges. Descend along some amazing Walls!
